Highbridge residents assured that recycling facilities will be
kept clean
Highbridge
residents have this week been assured that the town's recycling
facilities will be kept clean in the future.
It
comes after Burnham-On-Sea.com
first highlighted problems at the Bank Street car park last
week when residents complained the area was littered with
food and cartons due to over-flowing bins.
But
Adrian Gardner, Group Environment Manager at Sedgemoor District
Council, said on Tuesday (August 19th):
"I
have contacted the Somerset Waste Partnership and they assure
me that the Tetrapak banks were emptied on Monday afternoon."
"The
Somerset Waste Partnership are liaising with the contractor to
discuss future servicing arrangements and they have been assured
of improved performance and they will be closely monitoring this."
Highbridge
district councillor Joe Leach, who has been working with Lib Dem
parliamentary candidate Tessa Munt (pictured above) to improve
the facilities, welcomed the news on Tuesday (August 19th).
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "I am very pleased that the people
of Highbridge will now have a clean, suitable service in which
to do their recycling."
"This
is an important issue to everyone, and I thank the individuals
involved for getting this priority sorted and to ensure this doesn't
occur again."
"Recycling
is becoming more of an everyday thing now, and we must ensure
that we make it as easy and pleasant as possible. Hopefully from
now on, it will be.
Tessa Munt also called for action on Monday when she and Cllr
Leach visited the site.
