Olympic cycling winners heading to Burnham in September
Three
of Britain's Olympic cycling stars will be in Burnham-On-Sea next
month, it was announced by the organisers of The Tour of Britain
on Monday morning (August 18th).
Following
their superb success in the Team Pursuit at the Beijing Olympic
Games earlier today, cycling fans will have the chance to welcome
home two members of the successful line-up when The Tour of Britain
enters the town on September 9th.
"Both
Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas will be riding The Tour of
Britain for their respective professional teams, Team Columbia
and Barloworld," Tour of Britain spokesman Paul Rowlands
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
He
added: "Wiggins and Thomas won't be the only Olympic medallists
competing in the race. Bronze medallist Chris Newton will be also
be part of the Rapha-Condor squad during The Tour."
Burnham-On-Sea.com
exclusively reported
in February that our town would be chosen as the finishing
spot for the race on September 9th. The south west leg of the
race is set to start in the south of Somerset in Chard and finish
in Burnham.
Digital
TV channel ITV4 will be broadcasting extensive coverage of the
race, along with regional and international television channels.
