Teenagers
helped to safety after mud drama besides Brean Down

Two
teenagers were helped to safety by Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards
on Thursday afternoon (July 3rd) after they got into difficulty
on the mudflats besides Brean Down.
The
village's beachwarden raised the alarm shortly before 4pm after
spotting three teenagers struggling waist-deep in mud.
Coastguards
called two Burnham RNLI lifeboats and Burnham's Spirit Of Lelaina
rescue hovercraft to the scene amid concern for the trio during
the fast-incoming tide.
"One
of the men managed to scramble onto the beach on his own accord
and two others were helped back to the shore," a Burnham
Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"The
incident again highlights the danger of walking on the mudflats.
We advise beachgoers to stay safe on the sand at the top of the
beach."
